Slavery, Structural Racism and the Struggle for Reparations in the US with Dreisen Heath & Peter Dixon

Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 1:00 PM until 2:00 PMEastern Daylight Time UTC -04:00

The United States is perhaps closer today than it ever has been to atoning for its history of enslavement and disenfranchisement of Black people and to recognizing the persistent injustices of the present. Central to this is a national movement to bring to fruition a long-held goal of establishing reparations for Black people.
This talk will provide an update on the latest from this movement and set it in an international context vis-a-vis other countries where the struggle for reparative justice has played out.
    Speakers:
Dreisen Heath is an assistant researcher/advocate focusing on racial justice issues, including reparations, in the United States Program at Human Rights Watch.

Peter Dixon is a Research Scientist & Adjunct Professor in the COEX program where he co-leads the Everyday Justice and Reimagining Safety projects.

Registration is no longer available because the registration deadline has passed.
